The method of calculating the total number of excess/exiguous deaths nationwide has been updated. Previously, in the 'Total Number of Deaths', the total number of excess/exiguous deaths in each of the 47 prefectures was accumulated and used as the national figure. From this update, the total number of excess/exiguous deaths has been calculated directly from the number of observed deaths nationwide. Similar changes have already been applied in the 'Weekly Deaths'.
